Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore has been the cutting edge of women's training in Tamil Nadu from 1948. The College records a steady yet a spectacular progress since its inception.
At present women students are trained in various disciplines of Arts, Commerce and Science at the UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D levels.
In acknowledgment of the meritorious service for the cause of women's education, the College was conferred autonomous status on 14.5.2007 by the UGC. The UGC Expert Committee recommended extension of autonomous status for a duration of six years with effect from 2013-2014.
